About X-ray BARIUM

X-ray BARIUM is a radiographic (X-ray) examination available across MedVocs partner centres. X-rays are the quickest first-line imaging test for bones, joints, the chest, and certain soft-tissue and dye studies.

Images are captured digitally and reported by a radiologist, making it easy to share results with your treating doctor for fast decisions.

• No special preparation is needed for standard X-ray views — simply carry your doctor's advice/prescription.
• For specialised dye studies such as this, specific preparation (bowel prep, timing with menstrual cycle, or catheterisation) applies — our team will explain the exact protocol when you book.
• Always inform the technologist if you are or may be pregnant.

   You will be positioned standing, sitting, or lying down depending on the view required.

   You may be asked to hold your breath or stay still for a few seconds while each image is taken.

   For dye studies, a contrast medium is introduced before images are captured in sequence; mild cramping can occur briefly.

Digital images are ready immediately; the radiologist's report typically follows within a few hours and no later than 24 hours.

• X-rays use a very small, controlled dose of radiation; pregnant women should inform staff so the study can be deferred or shielded appropriately.
• Repeat X-rays should only be done on medical advice.
• After dye studies, mild spotting or cramping can occur — follow the post-procedure instructions shared by the centre.
